Gutsy and gusty on match day three of ur7aside cape town

Gutsy and gusty performances for the midway point.

The beauty about any format of rugby is that it will be played regardless of the weather conditions. You could be running around during the peak of summer in Kenya where temperatures easily reach 40 plus degrees, or you could find yourself navigating the snow in the heart of Mother Russia. For rugby, sevens and, of course, non-contact 7s the show must go on.

This week below the giant that is Table Mountain teams were privy to some of Cape Town’s most gusty winds of the year. The wind was blowing away merrily as it flowed from the top of the Mountain and channeled its force towards Gardens Rugby Club. A beautifully iconic setting that the weather can easily interrupt. For the teams, the weather was nothing but another small obstacle where they knew the focus had to be on basics.

The Amazing Galaxy Warriors seemed weather proof and continued their unbeaten run. Their 2 victories this past week solidified their spot at the top of the league and sets them up to be head hunted come finals day on the 25th Nov. A day which sees all the teams vying for victory in a Sevens Series type finals days format.

The game of the night was undoubtedly the clash between the inform Dynamiters and the Bo-Kaap Hurricanes. These teams went tit for tat as the Hurricanes tried their best to get the W and leapfrog their opponents on the log. This was not the case and the Dynamiters held for a 14 – 12 victory.

A part of the Zamaleks who are still finding their feet in the series, team have settled into the innovative format and are working their way up the log. After 5 weeks of play, your seeding is more important as teams will go into 2 groups where they will want to avoid the inform teams.
