After an enthralling opening week, full of entertainment, sun and the hot sands of Camps Bay Beach – the UR7s Beach Rugby Series will be rolling over into a new week.
Some new teams such as the WheyO Warriors find themselves flying high at the top of their table; ahead of veteran teams such as the Amazing Galaxy Warriors. On the other hand there are some teams still looking to register their first wins.

The second group, topped by the Nomads is tight at the top with 3 teams all in the run for first – both the CB Legends and the SACS Old Boys are nipping at their heels. The second round of games promises a lot as those who started slow look to pick up momentum and those who have forged ahead look to maintain their good performances.
Group A might see a reshuffle as the WP Ladies who started strong stand to launch themselves into tied first place, should they take a victory from their game against the WheyO Warriors. Both sides have started well and the clash is one to look out for. Another important game that is early on is the match up of the Nomads and the SACS Old Boys. Both sides have 6 points and are locked in at the top of Group B – making this a vital game.
The Nomads pressure games don’t go away as they later face up against the CB Legends. These veterans of the game pose a difficult challenge and will be rearing to go after slipping to third on the log. The AGW will also be looking to climb the ladder after their tensely fought draw against the CB Legends in round 1. They come up against an FHS team looking to get back on track and claim a first win. AGW are a team that never disappoints and their games are always worth watching.
In the recovery department sit teams like the Husk All-Stars and the Daily Dose Inbetweeners who both would’ve wanted more from their first games than 3 points. They will be keen to get their bids for the title back on the road and at full steam. While the Husk All Stars face up to teams below them in the standings, the Inbetweeners have a tougher task. They play the CB Legends and the SACS Old Boys – both teams at the top of their games. Caprice, Average Joes, MC Hammer, FHS Academey, Cobras and Flying Fish are all searching for a first win on the sand. With most of them being new to the game in the first round, they will be more comfortable on sand this time around.
It’s going to be great entertainment (especially if we see more of players like Noor Salie, Louis Bester, Ikraam Essop, Zaan Theron and Stephan Daniels from round 1’s team of the week) as well as a beautiful evening on the beach. See you there just before 18h00!
